“ Absolutely delicious food! The chef was so kind and courteous. He came out and explained the recipes to our large group which was awesome. Highly suggest the southwestern stuffed chicken! Our server was very sweet and attentive as well! Great place :) ”

“ Hubby and I went to Bama's 1865 again today. This was our second visit in about a month. They had a new menu this time. It was delicious! All of it! On our first visit, the gumbo was very salty and we asked our server to let the chef know. The flavor was awesome, just salty. My husband then met the chef/owner outside of the restaurant and told me he was the nicest most genuine guy, which made me want to support his business even more. This visit, it was perfect. It was so good, we forgot to take a picture before we dug in. So nice to know a place will actually take your feedback and make changes, if needed. We got the bayou shrimp, gumbo, shrimp and grits and the new pasta Mardi Gras. We ate all of the shrimp from our appetizer and took the creole butter that it’s simmered in to go. It would be great over some pasta and maybe some chicken. The pasta Mardi Gras was a little spicy with plenty of proteins listed on the menu. Definitely didn’t skimp. My shrimp and grits were creamy and flavorful with plenty of crispy bacon and andouille. It will be enough for three meals for me. Their entrees were presented beautifully. We got the same server as last time and she was friendly and efficient again. I think her name was Claudine. Another nice touch is that the chef/owner comes out and says hi to the regulars. Very classy. This place has very flavorful, hearty food and my husband and I will be back again! I posted a pic of my iced tea to show that the straw is actually taller than my glass. So many restaurants use these tall glasses and short straws that you have to dig out of your drink. It’s the little things that make a place great. ”
“ Let me start by saying I’m not one to really give reviews . But this experience must be shared. So I’d been seeing a lot of people talking about Bama’s 1865 and decided to go check it out. Before we arrived, I was a little skeptical that it wasn’t going to be “family friendly” (as we took our 1yr old) and that it would have a loud bar atmosphere... well, let me tell you - upon entering, we were greeted with such a friendly face, complimenting our baby girl right away (as a mom, instant points) the atmosphere was very pleasant, not bar like loudness. You can hold a conversation without having to yell at each other. We ordered drinks, and my husband got the Old Fashioned and it was actually really good. I got a ranch water, which was not to my liking. Without hesitation, the server offered to change it for something else, which we did. My second drink was a lot better (can’t remember what it’s called) but something with Malibu and cranberry. We proceeded to order the Boudin egg rolls for an appetizer and our meal. My husband was set on the stuffed turkey leg, that he’d seen on fb. I ordered the jambalaya. We then were told they were out of the turkey legs and the owner himself, came out to apologize. He offered to comp anything else on the menu, just to make it right. After seeing my husband’s disappointment (again he was really, really set on that turkey leg) he gave us the choice of waiting 30min or so and he’d have a turkey leg. Of course we decided to wait and in the meantime, he (the owner) brought us some wings. They were so delicious!! Once the turkey leg came out, OMG! The wait was sooo worth it!!! EVERYTHING was delicious the Jambalaya was the most authentic I’ve ever had, it was spicy and everything on point. But THAT turkey leg was something else! Loaded with Mac n cheese, a bourbon sauce and the rice phenomenal! Best I’ve ever had. Needless to say, we’re definitely going back! Bama’s, thank you for the great service and delicious food!!! I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the food. ”
“ First time here and let me just tell youuuu, the food here in NM is a hit or miss, but BAMA got it right babyy!! I loveddd it all!! Got the turkey leg stuffed with Cajun jambalaya which had perfectly cooked shrimp, sausage, and chicken in it, the seasoning was on point. The sauce that they smothered the turkey leg in was absolutely delightful. It’s such a huge portion. I could not even finish half of my meal. We also ordered the collard greens, the mac & cheese, as well as the candy yams, and OMG, absolutely delicious!! I will be backkkkk!!! ”
